Teaching Responsibility (Book Storage)

Children are usually fascinated with colorful reading materials that are available at day care centers. Although they are not old enough to be able read these reading materials, they are captivated by the illustrations depicted therein. Experienced and well trained day care center administrators are able to see another learning opportunity with this fascination. Children at an early age can be taught to how to be responsible by making return the reading materials where these came from. In addition, their organization skills are also developed when they are able to return the books in a particular order. Children who can easily follow their teacher’s instructions are usually able to take responsibility. A simple book storage becomes an important teaching tool when it teaches the children how to be responsible. Developing the child’s sense of duty can be done by teaching him how to take full responsibility of his actions. Being able to take care of the reading material and return the same back to the book storage is a tell-tale sign that the child is responsible. Day care centers who take notice of this potential should also consider the book storage as an important teaching tool. Children are most ideal to be taught organizational skills as they are receptive and can be easily trained. There are a lot of good book storage designs. All utilizes wood housing. Yet an ideal book storage is one which considers the unique characteristics of young children. It should have the right height so children would no longer have to reach out in order to get or return reading materials. It should also be sturdy and able to carry heavy loads so it will not easily collapse.

Play Blocks

Change – everybody and everything has seen and experienced it. Some for worse but most of us hope that it’s for the better. But do you know one thing that hasn’t changed? A child’s amusement and fascination with playing building blocks. As far as I can remember, building blocks have been around for many years and I haven’t seen a child not having fun while playing with it. Blocks were originally made from wood but now you can buy them in plastic or soft materials.
Playing with blocks make your toddlers use their imagination which is good because this stimulates their brains. They learn to pretend and come up with the most amazing ideas. They improve their motor skills also because they learn how to go around the blocks cautiously so as not to topple them over. They also learn how to count and solve riddles.
At times, you will see your kids playing with his blocks and notice that he picks them up, drops them, put it in a basket, or moves them from one place to another. You wonder, how can this be educational? Without you understanding it, your child has a lot of things going on in his mind. Because of this activity, he learns about colors, sizes, shapes, and weights. Older toddlers then learn how to construct more complicated structures or create their own designs.
To better understand your child, why don’t you sit there on the floor next to him and play with him. Talk to him and ask him questions about the ideas that are forming in his head. This not only educates him but also gives you quality time with him.

Why cleaning is important at daycare

Keeping the daycare center super clean is extremely important. With a constant stream of children coming in and out, there is no telling what illnesses and diseases they could be bringing into the center. Using simple things like hand sanitizer and wipes to keep everything and everyone clean is really important. They can used to kill viruses and keep children from spreading these sorts of things to each other and can prevent children from getting extremely ill. Common ailments such as Chicken Pox, the flu, and common colds are all things that are easily passed from one child to another. But they are always three things that can be stopped by simply making sure that all the children are cleaned and that the space at the center is cleaned. A good way of going about it is by making sure that all the children wash their hands after meals and after playtime and by also making sure that everything is wiped down with sanitizing wipes after children have played and come in contact with it.

Why daycares are important for social development

Having children in daycare provides them early on with the opportunity to develop social skills that they would otherwise not develop at home. It puts them in an environment with other children early on so that by the time they reach school age, they aren’t totally shocked and thrown in head first with no social skills. At daycare, children learn thing like how to share with other children and how to get along with children of all different backgrounds. It helps teach them how they should act in social situations for the rest of their lives and sets it up so that they will be able to be successful in school and work. Learning these things early on is so important. Children that don’t go to daycare don’t learn how to develop these skills outside of their home are at a disadvantage when they start school. While the other children who have been at daycare know how to act and interact with others, the child who does not is often left behind and left out because they simply don’t know how to behave in social situations.

Having safe play equipment is essential at day care centers and preschools. Safe equipment is crucial in preventing minor and major injuries that could occur when children are playing and roughhousing. Making sure that everything the children are playing is simple and easy and should be a mandatory requirement for all childcare facilities. The easiest way to protect the children's play equipment is by testing out everything before any children ever play on it. You can also pad everything with soft padding so that in the event that a fall would occur, the child’s falling would be broken by padded before he or she ever hit the ground. You can also constantly update the play equipment with newer and nicer equipment so that everything is new and there is less chance of faulty equipment. However, the safest thing to do is, of course, to always make sure that all children are being monitored while playing on anything that could possibly cause injury.

This is the one time every year that you dread: leaving your loving companion at home. You have tried to make trip arrangements for your dog, too; but for whatever reason (your dog’s age, temperament, the destination or length of trip), you just will not be able to take him with you. You have been hearing your friends talk about boarding kennels, so maybe you should find out more information.

It is fairly easy to find a kennel in most areas. Often, a local veterinarian facility doubles as a kennel. Other times, people open independent boarding kennels. The choice is yours, but it is a good idea to check out your options before you commit to one. There are many good things about your veterinarian kennel: you are probably already familiar with the staff, your dog may already be familiar with the environment, there are an adequate number of staff members, and it has on-site emergency facilities. There are not so good things about a veterinarian kennel, too (although this does not apply to all vets): the staff may be stretched thin between the patients and boarders, the kennel may not have appropriate exercise facilities, other animals in the kennel are probably there for health reasons and may put your pooch at risk, and the scents and sounds of a veterinarian clinic can cause more stress for your already stressed out dog.

No matter which type of kennel you choose, there are always things you must keep in mind and look for while visiting the kennel. A pre-visit is very important. Be courteous and set up an appointment to see the facilities. You want to make sure that the kennel will not be extremely busy, and someone will be there to answer all your questions. When you make the initial visit, pay close attention to the staff. Are there enough people there to spend quality time with every animal? Is the staff happy, professional, and have good attitudes around the animals? A grouchy, inadequate staff can make your dog’s stay miserable.

While you are there, ask about how the facility will care for your dog. Common questions include: how much time will my dog spend exercising per day? How much time will a staff member spend playing and giving attention to my dog? What will you do in case of an emergency? While you are asking these questions, do the math in your head. If they say that a staffer will spend two hours with your dog everyday, but you have only seen two staffers and 30 dogs, then this may not be true. Also, take a whiff of your surroundings. The kennel should not have a bad odor, nor should it smell like disinfectant (you want your dog to be completely comfortable). It’s always a plus if each “living space” has its own scooper. This is not necessary, but it does help prevent the spread of disease. You should also know if your dog will be able to stay in their own dog crate with pet crate pad or if you have to use theirs.

The people at the boarding kennel should also ask about your dog. They should want to know his temperaments, behaviors, fears, special diet, feeding time, medication, etc. They should ask about his health record and vaccinations. If your dog uses a special dog training collar or bark collar they should be kept with the same settings. Do not try to hide anything from the kennel. If your dog does not play well with other dogs, then tell them this up front (or any other kind of behavior they need to know about). They are there to ensure the comfort of every dog they board. A good kennel will also try to keep your dog’s schedule. Many dogs are under high stress when they arrive, especially if it is their first time at a kennel. Keeping the same feeding and walking routine will help your dog relax.

This is just a few suggestions of how to choose a kennel. Recommendations from friends and veterinarians are always a good starting point. Never pick the first kennel you come across in the phone book. Take time to make an appointment, and check out the facilities before you leave your dog in a strange place. The staff should always have animal-loving personalities, and the kennels should be clean. Do not be afraid to ask any questions you may have. And, don’t worry; your dog will be fine!

Portable Sinks for Daycares

Anyone who has been around toddlers before will agree that they can get messy. They may be playing with paints, mud, and rocks or filling their tummy with lunch or a snack. It only takes a little while to get their hands dirty. To prevent bacteria and illnesses that can be avoided, there are simple items to add to the daycare facility to make sure the little ones stay clean while they learn and have fun.

The water is heated by an adjustable water heater which allows water temperature to be adjusted between 95 to 155 degrees. These portable sinks are not limited to just what is mentioned. There are also a few extra features that can be added. A motion sensor is an excellent option for a portable sink in a daycare. This allows the child to simply put their hands in the sink and the water will turn on. It not only will get the child clean quickly, it conserves water. 75% less water is used, which will lengthen the time between refilling the clean water. Another feature to consider that would be greatly used is a soap dispenser. This makes hand-washing more successful when the child sees the soap nearby.

Keeping areas clean where children are is very important to keep germs from spreading. Whether the child has a cold, or was playing with toys that other children played with. Making sure he or she gets in the habit of keeping their hands clean will help them later on in life.
