Solar energy has been around since the beginning of time, however it has only been in recent years we have technology has started to make it available for consumers to use. The advantages of using solar power far outweigh the disadvantages of solar power. Technology has progressed enough for the use of solar energy by home owners and even apartment dwellers to be affordable. It is not just for the homes so far out in the country, that running electrical lines are just not possible. Many homes in the metropolitan and urban areas are being equipped for the use of solar energy.

Solar energy is a renewable source of energy. Even though the sun sets in the evening making it impossible to use at night, it will come up again tomorrow to supply us with more energy. Propane, coal, and gas are not renewable when they are used they are gone. We can mine for more coal, and search for more oil for the gas, and we can use nuclear power to create more electricity, however what happens if we deplete of the resources we need to make more energy. With the sun we will never run out of sunlight. Should that day ever come, no one will be here to know.

Using the other sources of energy, such as the oil, coal and propane give off emission when they are used. Solar energy does not. Solar cells are quiet as they are creating electricity. Where as the nuclear power plant may not be as quiet and neither is the large equipment used in drilling for oil or mining for coal.

Solar panels require no maintenance and will last for many, many years. Where as anything with a motor used in the making or retrieving of natural resources will always need regular maintenance to keep them in good working order, and after several years of good service are doomed to be remanded to the junk heap.

Solar panels are much more affordable than they were however the up front cost may be a little more than you might want to pay, however looking at the return on your initial investment, you will come out ahead in the end. When using solar energy, you will not be paying on an electric bill or a gas bill or even filling up that propane tank.

Some of the solar products will require installation, such as the solar shingles and the solar panels in order to power your entire home; however the solar lights are simple and easy for you to install yourself. There is no wiring require on the solar lighting.

To be fair the disadvantages of solar power are some of the solar products may be a little pricey, but they will more than pay for themselves in the long run.

Cloudy days and hours the sun goes down you will not be creating any new solar energy; however as a rule the sun will come back out the next day or in a day or two.

Over all the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
